DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit family has plenty of unanswered questions after the murder of their loved one remains unsolved one year after his death.

On the anniversary of her cousin's death, WWJ Newsradio 950 City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas visits the scene where Shawn Brooks was last seen alive.

The 46-year-old Brooks was beaten inside of his home at 6850 Longacre St. on July 18, 2011 before being dragged into the street where he was run over by his attackers and left for dead.

The family members believes a "no snitch policy" has hampered this investigation.

"I would like for someone to come forward, because I feel like somebody knows something. I'm sure somebody knows something," said Nancy Brooks, Shawn Brooks' mother.

"I miss him so much. It's just so hard for me and his kids and my mother and his sister and his brothers, we're all really having a difficult time trying to get through this because we just keep wondering 'Well, what happened?'"

The case is still under investigation, but the family is making an appeal to the public to come forward with details on the crime.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2500 reward for information in this case. You can provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-SPEAK UP. You can also text your tip to CRIMES (274637). Text tips must start with the letters DPD, followed by the tip information.
