Shop To Save Our Four-Legged Friends

CLAWSON (CBS Detroit) - Metro Detroit residents can help out man's best friend this Sunday by shopping at Leon and Lulu, a one-of-a-kind store in Clawson.

From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on July 29, 10 percent of all sales at Leon and Lulu will be split between three different animal rescue operations.  A converted roller rink, Leon and Lulu is a unique store offering everything from upscale furniture to hand-crafted art – and of course, pet supplies.  The store is even named after two furry, four-legged friends.

One of the organizations that will benefit from the money collected is SAFARI, an organization dedicated to finding homes for unwanted animals, saving animals from shelters or placing animals that are on the streets in homes.

Another organization that proceeds will go to is Greyhound Retirement Adoption Care and Education, known as G.R.A.C.E., which helps find homes for retired Greyhound race dogs.   Paws for Life, which works to save animals from over-flowing shelters, will also benefit.

An adoption tent will be set up behind the store for adoptions, and there will be numerous in-store activities including a 50/50 raffle and face painting for children.

Leon and Lulu will also be collecting donations in a supply drive to help the animals.  Some of the items they're collecting include cat litter, dog and cat beds, dog and cat food and cages, among other items.  A complete list of the items accepted, along with more event information, can be found at Leon and Lulu's website.
