DETROIT (WWJ) - Family member says bodies found in a vacant Detroit field are those of two missing Westland teenagers.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner on Saturday confirmed that two bodies found in an overgrown field near City Airport, along Lyford Street at French Road on Detroit’s east side, belong to 18-year-old Jacob Kudla and 17-year-old Jourdan Bobbish.

The bodies were found in 3- to 5-foot-high vegetation, dressed only in undergarments. Both suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The bodies were initially rumored to be the teens, but officials said the state of decomposition made a positive identification difficult.

“We’re OK, saddened,” Reba Jacobs, Kudla’s cousin said. “Kind of ready for it, expected it, but didn’t want it to be true.”

Kudla and Bobbish were last seen Sunday night when they left the east side Detroit home of Kudla’s uncle. Kudla’s car, a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, was found the next day abandoned at a west side apartment with its sound system removed.

Larceny, obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence charges in connection to Kudla’s vehicle have been filed against two ex-cons from Detroit, 39-year-old Casey Green and 40-year-old Larry Anderson.

No arrests have been made in connection to the murders. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
