WATERFORD (WWJ) – Police in Waterford are looking for whoever broke into a large safe, stealing coins and silver bars that date back to the 1800s.

Officers responded on Wednesday to Silver and Gold Exchange on Highland Road and found the front door glass shattered.

They also found evidence of a safe-cracking tool used to punch holes into the safe.  Along with the coins, several hundred Civil War bills were taken.

There have been no arrests as the theft remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Waterford Police Detective Lawrence Novak at 248-618-7515.
