Pontiac's Raleigh Michigan Studios Changes Name

PONTIAC (WWJ/AP) - Raleigh Michigan Studios in Pontiac is again known as Michigan Motion Picture Studios after ending a management and marketing agreement.

The studio's executives declined to discuss the reasons for the split with Raleigh Studios. They are expected to announce the change later this month.

Following the change, a deal no longer is in effect with studio operator Raleigh Studios. Michigan Motion Picture Studios was the studio's original name.

Steven Lemberg, the studio's chief financial officer, said in a statement the change was by "mutual agreement" and Michigan Motion Picture Studios remains committed to the growth of the film industry in the state. He said plans will move forward to create job opportunities for people in Michigan.

Michael Newport, Raleigh Studios' director of marketing and client development, confirmed the studio operator isn't still marketing the Pontiac facility.
