Merit Network Sets Workshops On Private Cloud, Desktop Virtualization: Merit Network Inc. will welcome prominent technology consultant and analyst Barb Goldworm for two expert workshops on private cloud and desktop virtualization on Oct. 18 and 19 in Ann Arbor. In "Virtualization: The Road to Private Cloud," on Oct. 18, will address the challenges that come with virtual infrastructure and the move to private cloud computing, and how to prioritize and implement the necessary solutions for virtualization management, automation and delivery as a private cloud. In "Desktop Virtualization & Transformation," on Oct. 19, provides everything you need to understand and assess your user requirements, develop a strategy, and select the right products and technologies for your needs. Learn the latest available desktop, application and user virtualization technologies, how to assess user desktop requirements across your entire organization, and determine how to successfully select and implement the right technologies. Barb Goldworm is founder, president and chief analyst of Focus, a research, analysis, and consulting firm focused on transformational technologies in virtualization, cloud computing, systems and storage. She has spent 30 years in senior management, engineering, marketing, sales, and industry analyst positions with IBM, StorageTek, Novell, Enterprise Management Associates and multiple successful startups. A keynote speaker at hundreds of virtualization, cloud, data center and storage events, she has also been one of the top three rated speakers at Data Center Decisions and Storage Networking World. Both workshops will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided. The location is Merit Network's offices at 1000 Oakbrood Drive, Ann Arbor. For Merit members, through Aug. 31, registration for each workshop is $395, or both for $775. After Aug. 31, each workshop is $495, or both for $875. For non-members, aregistration is $595 for each workshop or $975 for both. Scholarships for Merit members if funding is not otherwise available to attend through their organization.
