WARREN (WWJ) – A bicyclist is dead after he was struck while trying to cross the street.

Warren police said the man was hit by a car while traveling on Ryan Road near 14 Mile Road and died at the scene.

The driver of the car did not stop. Police said he abandoned his car a short time later and then ran into a nearby subdivision where he was later caught.

The suspect is now in police custody. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday at which time his name would be released.

Police have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of his family.
