Compuware To Host Three "Design Happenings" As Part Of Detroit Design Festival: Compuware Corp. Thursday announced its participation in the Detroit Design Festival, a series of city-wide cultural events that will take place Wednesday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 23. The DDF will feature exhibits, studio tours, panel and roundtable discussions, lectures, product and fashion shows, retail happenings and design battles that will occur at many Detroit locations. Compuware will sponsor three "design happenings" during the festival. Working Title is an exhibition that seeks to investigate the state of work and our working environments with a sense of curiosity, good design, innovation and humor. The Compuware-curated exhibition will feature many local artists and designers as well as works from the Compuware Art Collection and an installation from Haworth, a Michigan-based design firm and furniture manufacturer. Housed in Compuware's pop-up exhibition space at 123 Monroe St., Working Title runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 10 on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Detroit Stories is a series of film vignettes screened at Lafayette Greens, Compuware's urban garden, at the intersection of Shelby and Michigan Avenue. The vignettes feature stories of real people living and working in Detroit. It is an ongoing project to create a digital archive of honest revelations and heartfelt recollections; Detroit Stories is a growing, collective voice of an authentic city. Detroit Stories will be shown at the Lafayette Greens on Friday, Sept. 21 throughout the day on a small screen and projected at night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Also, Compuware will sponsor #awakening: Dance Film Music Festival: A Community Dance Intervention led by Detroit Dance Project and blackhackerspace art + design collective. This event in Lafayette Greens invites everyone -- including families and children -- to take part in impromptu music and dancing led by Detroit-based artists. The event's dances will be filmed Sept. 19 and 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Evening music and dance performances take place at Tangent Gallery from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A dance film premier featuring the highlights of the DDF experience and panel discussion moderated by Maya Stovall will be held on the final day of DDF, Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Tangent Gallery at 715 E. Milwaukee St. in Detroit from 3 - 5 p.m.

Plex Systems Webinar Addresses Steps to Improve Food Tracing: Auburn Hills-based Plex Systems Inc., provider of Plex Online FSMS, the leading Food Safety Management System, today announced the upcoming food processing thought leadership Webinar, "Four Steps to Improving Food Tracing," on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Former FDA Associate Commissioner of Foods David Acheson and Leavitt Partners Senior Director Jennifer McEntire will outline the four critical steps in improving processors' food tracing capabilities. McEntire led the product-tracing pilot studies required by the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), conducted by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) for the FDA, which included a series of recommendations on traceability improvements. The report findings and recommendations are expected to drive new requirements resulting from FSMA. Webinar attendees will learn more about tracking data at critical points in processing, capturing key data elements, using barcoding technology to track internal data, and tracing data one-up and one-back along the supply chain.
