Fithian’s Fab Five: Michigan State Will Beat Notre Dame
By: Dennis Fithian
Picking Michigan and Michigan State games: 2-2
College best bets: 1-0
Michigan State -5.5 vs. Notre Dame: Big stage and a manageable point spread. Everything points to MSU especially the way they play defense.
Prediction: Michigan State 20 Notre Dame 10
Michigan -45 vs. UMass: Indiana rolled Massachusetts and Michigan will do the same. How about a late Minutemen touchdown for the backdoor cover?
Prediction: Michigan 48 UMass 10
BYU -4 @ Utah Good rivalry game. BYU with more of an offensive punch.
Prediction: BYU 41 Utah 30
Lions predictions 0-1
NFL best bests 2-0
San Fran -7 vs. Detroit: 49ers are a better and more balanced team this year offensively. San Fran’s defense picked up where they left off last year in their opener at Green Bay in week one. San Fran looks like a Super Bowl team. The Lions still are an incomplete team.
Prediction: San Fran 37 Detroit 27
Other pro picks
Wash -3 @ St Louis: Skins start their season off with back to back road games. Washington had a punt blocked for a TD against New Orleans and still won by eight points. I don’t know if running back Alfred Morris is the real deal but clearly RGIII is. Great arm strength and poise by the rookie QB. The Rams played their best game they could against the Lions and still lost last week.
Prediction: Washington 28 St Louis 17
Minn -3 @ Indy: Andrew Luck is going to be fine in the NFL but he’ll throw a lot of picks this season. Adrian Peterson back from a knee injury and running like he did before.
Prediction: Minnesota 24 Indy 17
Green Bay -4.5 vs. Chicago: Nobody sees the Packers starting their season off at home with consecutive losses. This game has Green Bay and the OVER written all over it.
Prediction GB 41 Chicago 35 OVER 50
