DETROIT (CBS Detroit) – No hockey at the Joe this month? No problem. The Detroit Red Wings Thursday announced several sessions of opening skating on the Joe Louis Arena ice for fans.
The NHL lockout, announced Sunday, has cancelled all preseason games at least through September 30.
In answer, the Wings say they’ll stage 12 free one-hour open skate sessions next Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 24–26, 11 a.m., 12 p.m. 7 p.m., and 8 p.m.
Parking is also free, but you have to pre-register on the Wings website at this link.
You must bring your own skates.
