Residents Manage To Escape Fire At Detroit Apt. Building
DETROIT (WWJ) - It was a close call for some Detroiters Monday morning as they narrowly escaped a two-alarm fire at an apartment building.
WWJ's Ron Dewey reported from the scene that the fire broke out around 3 a.m. It was touched off in the stairwell in the upper floors of the Whitmore Apartments, near Woodward and McNichols.
Everyone was able to get out of the building without injury. It's believed someone -- possible a disgruntled former resident -- may have set the fire.
