Police: Chase Suspect Captured In Hot Tub

ALMENA TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities in southwestern Michigan say they captured a suspect trying to hide in a backyard hot tub following a more than 100 mph chase.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department says one of its deputies stopped a pickup truck early Wednesday for a defective plate, but the driver -- 28-year-old Jason Lyndon Wyatt -- took off.

A high-speed chase ensued until Wyatt lost control of his truck, which overturned several times in Almena Township, west of Kalamazoo. Police say Wyatt climbed out of where the truck's windshield used to be and fled on foot southbound into a wooded area.

A Kalamazoo police K-9 dog tracked Wyatt and he was found hiding in a hot tub with a cover over it, according to the sheriff's department.

Wyatt was arrested on charges including fleeing police, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs.
