3 Accidents On I-696 Slow Monday Morning Commute

WARREN (WWJ) - The morning commute on I-696 in Macomb County was slowed Monday morning as police worked to clear three accidents.

The eastbound lanes of the freeway were shut down just before 8 a.m. at Van Dyke.

Earlier in the morning, the westbound lanes of I-696 were shut down briefly between Gratiot Avenue and Bunert Road/Groesbeck. In addition, police were called to a rollover accident on eastbound I-696 at Van Dyke. Warren EMS crews did transport some victims to the hospital, however the number of injuries or severity wasn't known as of early Monday morning.

I-696 and Van Dyke is the same area where a good Samaritan was struck and killed last week. And just days before, two people were killed when they stopped to help at a crash scene at I-94 and 23 Mile Road.
