Man Injured By I-96 Corridor Shooter Over Weekend

LIVINGSTON COUNTY (WWJ) - A man on his way to the World Series at Comerica Park ends up in a hospital instead, a presumed victim of the I-96 corridor shooter.

The man, who was shot in his backside while driving on I-96 near the Fowlerville exit Saturday , is expected to be okay.

The man was one of two people driving on the freeway in Livingston County whose car was hit.

Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte says that brings the number of random shootings in four counties to 24,  nine days after the last incidents.

Bezotte says they believe all the shootings are related but they are looking into a possible copy cat.

"We do believe it's connected. We believe we're still looking for a dark colored Cavalier with a white male driver . We're at the point now where we haven't had a shooting or an incident in nine days ... eight or nine days, so we, we need somebody to report this," said Bezotte.

The man who was struck was the first person hit by a bullet.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
