Suspect Sought After Clinton Twp. Clerk Shot In The Face

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Clinton Township police are looking for a gunman who walked into a gas station early Tuesday morning and shot an attendant four times -- once in the face.

The shooting happened about 2 a.m. at the Mobil station on Harper north of Metro Parkway. Clinton Township police said the gunman tried to steal cash from the register, but couldn't get into it.  Nothing was taken from the store.

The clerk, who was shot in the eye, was last reported in serious condition. He was undergoing surgery Tuesday.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing several layers of clothes and a scarf over his face.

Police have some photos of the gunman and are looking at surveillance video, but they said it did not capture what might have prompted the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Clinton Township detectives at 586-493-7840.
