Man Killed In Inkster, 10th Murder Since July Police Layoffs

INKSTER (WWJ) – Police are investigating the death of a man killed in Inkster early Saturday morning in the three thousand block of Henry Street. It’s the 12th murder this year in the city, but the 10th since 20 police officers were laid off in July.

It’s a statistic that doesn’t go unnoticed among residents like Debra.

“I feel like, personally, the white coats, the men upstairs that make all these megabucks, I feel like our safety is as important as their paychecks,” she said.

Debra said she makes sure she’s at home at night because of the increase in violent crime in the city.

Police continue to investigate the homicide.

If you have any information about this incident you are asked to call police or CrimeStoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK-UP.
