Missing Deer Hunter Found Dead In West Michigan

NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The body of a man reported missing while deer hunting in West Michigan has been found.

WOOD-TV reports that the 66-year-old Twin Lakes man's body was found Friday morning against a tree in Oceana County's Newfield Township.

MLive.com reports that authorities had been searching more than 12 hours for the man who is believed to have suffered some type of medical condition.

He had been dragging a buck he shot and did not return Thursday night to the camp he shared with other hunters.

A 54-year-old deer hunter from Zeeland also was found dead Thursday. Richard DeBoer apparently was asphyxiated by fumes from a propane heater he was using to heat his van in West Michigan.

Thursday was the first day of firearm deer hunting season in Michigan.
