Man Had Toy Gun In 8-Hour Muskegon Standoff
MUSKEGON (AP) - Muskegon authorities say a 39-year-old ex-convict had a toy gun when he kept police at bay for eight hours after a domestic dispute.
Robert J. Brooks has been arraigned on charges of obstruction of justice and resisting officers and being a habitual offender. Brooks' criminal record includes a prison break.
A judge has ordered him jailed on a $500,000 bond and called for him to get a court-appointed lawyer.
His preliminary examination is scheduled Dec. 5.
Police say they got a report of a domestic disturbance about 2 a.m. Monday. They say witnesses told them they saw a man waving a handgun and arguing with a woman in a house where a 2-year-old boy was present.
Authorities arrested him without incident about 10 a.m.
