Crash In Warren Kills Woman, Injures Passenger

WARREN (WWJ) - A crash on the eastbound I-696 service drive at Bunert Road in Warren killed a 60-year-old woman and left her 25-year-old passenger injured.

Police said the victim ran a red light at Bunert and was broadsided by a van that had the right-of-way on the service drive.

Michael Pluff of Roseville works in a building in that area and said it's a dangerous intersection.

"In fact I just got into an accident a month ago - car coming off the freeway, right here, same spot. You know, I've got a herniated disc in my back the headlight was ejected thirty feet ... same area and everything," said Pluff.

Police say the driver of the van suffered a minor knee injury, but was not treated. The accident closed down the I-696 service drive at Groesbeck for a couple of hours.
