Man Dies In Freak Industrial Accident In Oak Park

OAK PARK (WWJ) - It's being called a freak, on-the-job accident.

Oak Park police say the incident happened just before noon Monday at LPC Landscape Services on Northend Avenue, near Coolidge Highway.

According to police, a 36-year-old Detroit man was hooking together some large equipment when the hydraulics failed. Police say a piece of metal shot out of somewhere and hit the man in the face and neck. He immediately dropped backwards and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Police say circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation. The man's name was not immediately released.
