DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) – The Detroit Lions signed veteran cornerback Ron Bartell to replace Jacob Lacey who was placed on injured reserve.
The 30-year-old Bartell, a 6-foot-1, 210 pound cornerback, grew up in Detroit and played football at Renaissance High School and at Howard in college.
“He’s a big corner. He’s got experience,” Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said of Bartell to DetroitLion.com. “He’s in good shape and has been playing recently. He worked out well for us.”
Lacey suffered an injury to his left knee cap during the 38-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night.
Schwartz told the DetroitLions.com that Lacey’s injury is not an ACL and will not require surgery. “But it’s going to put him down for a little while,” said Schwartz. “It popped back in on the field. He was game (to try and come back) but couldn’t run will enough.”
