Man Seriously Hurt, Hit While Lying In Street

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A young man was seriously injured early Wednesday morning, hit by a car in Macomb County.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident that occurred just after 1:30 a.m. along westbound Metro Parkway near the I-94 freeway overpass.

According to officials, the driver of an SUV, a 21-year-old Mount Clemens woman, said she'd tried to brake but struck a person who was lying in the roadway. She immediately dialed 911.

The injured man, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Lemons of Macomb Township, was conscious and speaking at the scene.

He was immediately transported to McLaren Hospital and where he was being treated for serious injuries later Wednesday morning.

It's not clear at this time why the man was lying in the street. Officials said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the incident as an investigation continues.
