Bystander Shot, Hospitalized After Fight Breaks Out Near High School

DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred near Pershing High School late Wednesday afternoon. One teenager, wounded in the leg, was said to be an innocent bystander when an argument broke out.

A 17-year-old girl, a student at Pershing High School, has been hospitalized.

Authorities tell WWJ that the young girl is in stable condition.

Detroit police say two groups of young men got into an argument outside of a BP Gas Station on 7 Mile Road and Ryan when someone pulled a gun and started shooting.

Sixteen year-old Leslie Smith saw the incident: “She got shot in the leg, it was pretty bad,  it looked like she was alright, I hope she was alright,” he said.

Three teens are being held for questioning by police.
