1 Killed, 3 Injured In 'Alcohol Related' Head-On Crash

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Police say a 75-year-old man was killed and three others were injured in a head-on crash in Pontiac.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the accident happened around 12:35 p.m. Monday on southbound Opdyke Road, just north of the M-59 expressway ramp in Pontiac.

Investigators say Sam Founteas, of Bloomfield Hills, was traveling southbound on Opdyke Road when his vehicle was struck head-on by a northbound traveling pickup-truck, driven by a 51-year-old West Bloomfield resident.

Witnesses told police the pickup-truck changed lanes to go through the intersection, lost control of the vehicle and hit Founteas' car head-on. Founteas' vehicle was then pushed into another southbound traveling vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Casco resident.

Police say Founteas was trapped in his vehicle and was pronounced dead on scene. His front seat passenger, a 66-year-old Bloomfield Hills resident was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck and the third vehicle were seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.

Police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
