What's Your Dream Job In Sports?
By: Terry Foster
When Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom retired this week, he called playing for the Red Wings the greatest job in the world. I guess I could debate getting your shins beat on for 20 minutes a game a great job. But the point is playing for the Red Wings was a wonderful experience for Homer.
That begs the question what is the best job in Detroit sports? If I were a young buck I would love to be the Pistons starting point guard. You are the quarterback of the team and its most important piece. I would enjoy handling the ball, getting my shot and making teammates better.
Even though the travel is brutal there is a charm of an 82-game season. You get to enjoy the entire country and some of the best restaurants in the country. And have you ever been on Round ball One?
I have. Sweet.
The Tigers presidents' job is sweet too. You do most of your work in the off season, check out Tiger games in a sports jacket and move pieces back and forth from Toledo. And you actually get to make trades. Trades are a thing of the past in most sports. I would love to be a wheeler and dealer, which you can be in baseball.
But what is your dream job in sports? It was one of the topics on the Valenti and Foster Show today.
