1. Pavel Datsyuk must play better. In the Red Wings’ first three games this season, Datsyuk has been a mere shadow of himself. If he doesn’t break out of it, neither will the Red Wings. He is their best player.

2. The power play has to improve. It hasn’t been bad, it’s been awful. It’s been even worse than last year – and it was pretty bad.

3. The Red Wings need to get healthy. They have an inordinate of injuries for the season just starting.
