1. Can Bruce Rondon close? Spring training isn’t the best test for closers. The best hitters are never in the game at the end. But the radar gun and command of the baseball do not lie. How hard will Rondon throw? How good will his control be? Those will be huge factors whether the rookie right-hander wins the closer job.
2. How healthy is Victor Martinez? We’ve heard the Tigers’ DH has fully recovered from the knee injury that cost him all of last season, but spring training and baseball-related activity will tell the true tale.
3. What will the Tigers do with Brennan Boesch? Common sense suggests he will be the odd man in the Tigers’ outfield picture, but manager Jim Leyland insists he will compete with Andy Dirks for the left field spot.
