RV And Camper Show Rolls Into Novi This Weekend

NOVI (WWJ) - The 47th Detroit Camper and RV Show is going on through Sunday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

WWJ's Ron Dewey says just like the economy, the industry is bouncing back to life in Michigan.
Bill Scheffer of the Michigan Association of RVs and Campgrounds says the campers come in all sizes and price ranges for your budget from $5,000 to over $250,000.

"Our sales were up about 16 percent over the year before - there are over 325,000 recreactional vehicles which are registered with Secretary of State - we have a lot of lifestyle and besides that we have over licensed campgrounds

"Many people use that financing and if they meet that criteria for a second home they can deduct the interest on their income tax - so as long as they meet bathroom, kitchen, and sleeping recommendations from the U.S. Government - they can use it as a second home deduction ... (foundation) is irrelavent," said Scheffer.

There will be nearly 300 campers on display this weekend.

Everything from pop-ups to rock-star buses will be on display.
