"Oz" Rolls Out The Red Carpet In Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - There was a lot of excitement in Royal Oak this evening for a special showing of the film "Oz, the Great and Powerful."

WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports that at $100 million, "Oz" is the most expensive movie ever shot in Michigan.

"It was wonderful," said associate producer Grant Curtis."It felt like home."

Curtis spent seven months at the Raleigh Studios in Pontiac shooting the film.

He said the movie was life-changing: "I got married here, we were here on one of the sets you'll see in the movie - so that was by far my biggest challenge and my biggest achievement."

Married on the set of Glenda's Castle Courtyard - he says when you see the movie and the munchkins dancing around, those are the steps my wife and I walked down, "and that was my proudest achievement."

The movie opens to the public on Friday and Curtis said he hopes the audience likes it.

"I think they are going to see an adventure - a selfish guy who learns to give back," said Curtis.
