Roseville Fire Injures 2 At Stamping Plant

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A two alarm fire in Roseville forced the evacuation of an automotive parts supply company around noon on Tuesday, leaving two employees injured.

A welding spark is believed the likely cause of the fire inside the Sodecia Stamping Company on Common Street in Roseville.

"Our initial reports are that they were doing some welding ... in an area where there is oil and flamable liquids and that's what we believe the place," said Roseville Fire Chief Mike Holland.

"We chose the largest attack lines we have because of the quanty of flames we had. In addition to that we had to activate foam right away, what that does is gives us the ability to supress the fire a little bit faster," said Chief Holland.

It took responders about 30 minutes to contain the fire.

"One of our maintenence guys - he was caught in between the fire - so either he crawled out or he ran through the flames," said Tim an employee at the plant.

One of the employees had to be hospitalized, but the injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

The extent of the damage is still being determined.
