Hockey Player Punches Ref, Gets Banned For Life

By: Evan Jankens

One of the more unusual fights I have ever seen involves a hockey player and a ref. This took place in Canada last February. The player in question is named Brett Cook, who played for Nipissing University, and the reason I watched it was because he had been banned from hockey for life.

Why was he banned for life? “Upon review by the OUA men’s hockey review panel, consisting of the OUA men’s hockey convenor and a representative of the OUA Sport Committee, Brett Cook has been banned from participating in any OUA-sanctioned competition for the remainder of his university career,” the OUA said in a press release.
