Tigers Release Brennan Boesch
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) - In a somewhat of a surprising move, the Detroit Tigers have released outfielder Brennan Boesch.
Boesch hit 240 last season in 132 games with Detroit. He's been struggling this spring, hitting 188 in seven games.
By releasing Boesch on Wednesday, the Tigers owe him one-sixth of his salary if he's not claimed on waivers. It would have been one-fourth had they'd waited.
"I've had a half-dozen clubs ask about him," said Tigers President and CEO David Dombrowski, adding that a combination of factors have kept anyone from stepping forward for deal.
Boesch is featured in the Tigers 2013 wall calendar, now in stores. (Check it out here).
