1. Especially considering the loss of Cliff Avril in free agency, the Lions desperately need a speed pass rusher from the outside on their defensive line.

2. Re-signing Chris Houston will help the Lions at cornerback, and free agent Glover Quin is an upgrade from Louis Delmas at safety, but it isn’t like the secondary is exactly a strength for the Lions.

3. I think Riley Reiff will be an capable replacement for Jeff Backus at starting left tackle, but the Lions clearly need more depth along the offensive line.
