Robbery Suspect Arrested After Police Chase

WARREN (WWJ) - A robbery suspect trying to outrun police in metro Detroit didn't get very far.

Police say the situation began around 2:35 a.m. Thursday near 10 Mile and Ryan roads in Warren. The chase led police down I-75 and at one point, the suspect was traveling south on the freeway's northbound lanes.

The suspect exited the freeway at Holbrook in Hamtramck and was able to shake the cops after a Warren officer crashed his cruiser at the exit. Minutes later, additional officers joined the search and caught up with the suspect. Officers were eventually able to stop the suspect and take him into custody.

Police say luckily, there was little to no traffic at that time and no one was injured.

Investigators haven't said much about the robbery, other than to confirm that's what started the chase.

The suspect's identity was not released. Charges are pending.
