Recycling Center Open House For Earth Day

SOUTHFIELD -- Have you ever wondered where your recyclables go after they are picked up at the curb? On April 20, residents of the Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County communities will be able to see first-hand.

RRRASOC and ReCommunity will host an Open House at the Southfield materials recovery facility. Guided tours will allow guests to see the single-stream sorting facility, and employees will be on hand to answer questions.

The open house is timed to coordinate with Earth Day, and is the same date and location as the spring Southfield Household Hazardous Waste event. The hazardous waste event and open house events are open to residents of Farmington, Farmington Hills, Southfield, Novi, South Lyon, Walled Lake and Wixom.

The open house will be on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The household hazardous waste event ends at 2 p.m. Guests for the open house must wear flat-bottom, closed toe shoes for their safety.

The RRRASOC Materials Recovery Facility is at 20000 West Eight Mile Road in
Southfield.
