MTU To Host Women's Engineering Conference
HOUGHTON -- Michigan Technological University's Society of Women Engineers (SWE) chapter has won a bid to host the 2014 SWE Region H Conference.
Region H is the largest region in the nation, with more than 2,800 members from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The conference is expected to attract 700 or more SWE members, including undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff and corporate representatives.
The theme of the conference, which is being planned by Tech's SWE chapter, is "Extracting the Elements." It will be held Feb. 14-16, 2014 on the Michigan Tech campus in Houghton.
Michigan Tech's active SWE chapter is part of the university's initiative to recruit and retain women in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields.
