Arson Suspected In Livonia Office Fire

LIVONIA (WWJ) - An accident, or arson?

That's what Livonia fire investigators will try to determine after fire broke out early Monday morning at a small office complex along Middlebelt, south of West Chicago Rd.

Fire Marshall Dan Lee said broken window has piqued the interest of investigators  but it's till too early to say the fire was set on purpose.

Lee said the damage was limited to a tax accounting office on the north end of the building.

"The middle suite of that office space, that's destroyed quite a bit. It burned within that one room," Lee told WWJ Newsradio 950's Ron Dewey. "The door was closed, so it didn't extend into the other parts of the accounting office or any of the other suites in the building -- just a little smoke damage."

"If the door wasn't closed in that office it could have spread further," Lee added. "There's no firewalls in the office -- they're all joined by a hallway and individual door suites. It could have spread."

There were no injuries.

Lee said they're waiting on warrant paperwork in the case an investigation reveals something criminal.
