2 Hospitalized, 1 Dead After Fire On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say one person is dead and two others were rushed to the hospital after their home caught fire on Detroit's west side.

Fire broke out early Wednesday morning at a two-story brick home on Steel Street, near Meyers Road and Outer Drive.

When fire crews responded, they found two residents who were rushed to Sinai-Grace Hospital. A short time later, they found the lifeless body of another resident.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Mike Campbell said it appears the fire started in an upstairs room.

Fire officials say it's not yet clear what caused the fire, although it doesn't appear to be suspicious.

An investigation is ongoing.
