SOUTHFIELD — Judges are needed for the 2013 Engineering SMArT Detroit Competition at Lawrence Technological University on Thursday, May 23.

High school students are working on designing an energy efficient home and will be presenting their design drawings at the competition. Judges are asked to evaluate their presentations and design features.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield.

A judges meeting to review the project evaluation criteria will take place on Monday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the ESD office in Southfield. Please rsvp to collila@esd.org or rrobinson@esd.org if you plan to attend. A light dinner will be provided. You do not need to be an expert in this area to volunteer.

ESD said it expects approximately 10 teams to participate in the competition from the following schools: Central Collegiate Academy, Cody – Detroit Institute of Technology, Ford High School and Melvindale High School.
