HAZMAT Situation At Detroit Rail Yard
DETROIT (WWJ) - Four people were treated at the scene of a chemical spill at the CSX rail yard in Southwest Detroit.
A hazardous materials crew was called to the yard, late Wednesday morning, along Dix Avenue near Vernor.
The chemicals that spilled were reportedly insecticides that officials say can damage the human nervous system -- even at low exposure levels.
A call by WWJ Newsradio 950 to CSX, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based company that transports commodities including chemicals by rail, was not immediately returned.
It was unclear whether the people exposed were by standers or employees of CSX. All four were expected to be OK.
