Top Ten Family Cars--A Diverse List

IRVINE, CA -- (WWJ) Kelly Blue Book's list of "Ten Best Family Cars" includes mid size cars, minivans and small SUV's. It's also a mix of brands, foreign and domestic.

"This is a great year for family cars," said Jack Nerad, Kelly Blue Book's executive market analyst. "There are some new entries in the marketplace that are terrific. Some of the old standbys are also terrific."

At the top of the list, the Nissan Pathfinder.

Interview: We talk with Kelly Blue Book's Jack Nerad about top family cars.

"It's new this year, and we were really taken by the Pathfinder," said Nerad.

The largest category on the list, mid-size cars. There were four of these vehicles, including, says Nerad, the all-new Ford Fusion.

"It's a very, high tech vehicle, and offers good looks on the outside and creature comforts on the inside."

There was only one other American brand vehicle on the list, and it was an interesting choice. Nerad says they included the Chevy Suburban because big families need big vehicles.

"There are a lot of people, my family among them that like a large vehicle like that, that has great hauling power, great passenger capacity."
