Detroit's Incoming Corporation Counsel May Aspire For City's Top Job
DETROIT (WWJ) - The woman reportedly set to take over as Detroit's top lawyer may have some bigger aspirations within City Hall.
Native Detroiter Portia Roberson, who has been on loan to Detroit from the Obama Administration, is expected to be tapped as the city's new corporation counsel.
"I love being home," Roberson said. "When I went to DC in 2009, it was always a plan to come back to Detroit. This is home for me. I grew up here, educated here; we've had our struggles, but as I tell people, I lived in DC long time ago, long before the rebirth of DC, and they've been through their struggles too, and so I've seen what can happen when the city buckles down and they come back, and I want to be a part of that here in Detroit."
Her name has been mentioned as a possible future mayoral candidate.
