MMIC's Entrepreneurs, Innovators Hit A Grand Slam

MIDLAND -- Once again, the MidMichigan Innovation Center's Heading for the Big Leagues entrepreneurial event was a huge success.

The fifth annual event, one of the state's largest celebrations of Innovation, took place last week at Dow Diamond in Midland.

The concourse at Dow Diamond was transformed to a technology and innovation showcase for promising and successful companies from around Michigan. With an attendance of more than 300, this event provided over 50 exhibitors the opportunity to display and demonstrate their innovative products to potential investors and key business, community and political leaders.

The MidMichigan Innovation Center, in cooperation with Mrs. Junia Doan, presented the "Ted Doan Spirit of Innovation Award" to David E. Kepler, II of the Dow Chemical Co. in recognition of his leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship exemplified by vision, integrity, character and generosity.

The MidMichigan Innovation Center also presented a "MidMichigan Innovators Award" to Randall Montalbano of MonMark International and Lindsay Aspergren of North Coast Technology Investors in recognition of their innovation and leadership which has significantly enhanced the entrepreneurial environment in the mid-Michigan region.

The MidMichigan Innovation Center is a private, non-profit organization created to provide entrepreneurs and start-up companies a supportive and collaborative environment. MMIC connects entrepreneurs with critical resources, valuable services, flexible facilities, and entrepreneurial training and education to develop a business venture. MMIC partners receive the support needed to ensure success.
