1. Verlander is on pace to go 19-12 with a 3.74 ERA and 249 strikeouts this season. His major league average season is 18-10 with a 3.40 ERA and 215 strikeouts.

2. Verlander hit 98 mph on the radar gun Tuesday night during a loss to Baltimore. He still throws plenty hard enough.

3. Verlander’s track record is outstanding and at 30, he is in his prime.
