No Boat? No Problem! You Can Still Have Fun On The Water

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - If this ain't boatin' weather, what is, right?  Hot, hazy days are best spent on the water. And you can do it, even if you don't own a boat.

Roy's Boat Harbor on South River Road in Harrison Township is just up the Clinton River from Lake St. Clair.

Boat w o boat 2 (MC)Keith Cunningham's family has owned and operated the place with three generations for the past 35 years or so and has expanded to renting boats out for the day.

Cunningham says for $60 you can get a fishing boat -- at least 14-feet for eight hours.

"You get a motor, six-horse power, outboard ... life jackets, set of oars and an anchor," said Cunningham.

"We've got 14 and 16 foot aluminium fishing boats that we rent."

He says his boats are inspected every year by the sheriffs department.

Cunningham says he'll give you a quick lesson if unfamiliar with operating a small-boat. The boat costs $60 for eight hours, plus a $25 deposit, and he can even give suggestions on where to go to drift, drop anchor, swim, or fish.

You can call Roy's Boat Harbor at (586) 463-1479 for more details on renting a boat for the day.
