Police Find 87-Year-Old Man Missing In Lansing

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police have found a missing Detroit man several counties away from where he was last seen by his family.

The 87-year-old Detroit man, Weldon Davis, missing since Saturday evening was found safe in Lansing by authorities on Sunday.

Family members called WWJ to tell the welcome news about Davis and say he is safe and appears to be in good condition.

"We are so grateful," said his daughter, Sharon Davis.

Davis says it appears that her father simply lost his bearings....and she's thrilled to have him back home again.

"He was wearing a tan baseball cap; glasses, and he's in a light green 2006 Dodge Stratus car ... and a patterned or checkered shirt," said granddaughter, Latrice Davis.

Davis' disappearance was hard on the family, especially on his wife. " It's tough ... we're trying to use all our networks," she said Saturday.

Davis suffers from dementia and is a diabetic, and his granddaughter, says he's been missing since around 5:30 Saturday evening when he was last seen at his home on the city's east side.
