DETROIT (WWJ) – A local morning anchorwoman is behind a major effort to help inner-city teenage girls succeed in life.
Rhonda Walker is the co-anchor many wake-up to weekdays on Channel 4.
WWJ Newsradio 950’s Stephanie Davis reports that for the last ten years through her Rhonda Walker Foundation she and others have mentored teenage girls in the Detroit Public Schools.
Walker is hosting her 3rd annual Give & Get Fit 5K run, walk and 10k race Sunday to support the foundation and her message of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
There will also be health screenings, exhibitors, even Pilates, and yoga.
“We’re all just out going running, walking, talking with representatives from our hospital institutions … with health food stores, fitness stores that are just all about promoting and getting people to take care of themselves,” said Walker.
Monday the foundation is hosting an Automotive Industry Golf Challenge.
