Company Has Over 500 Job Openings, Hiring Immediately

CANTON (WWJ) - Over 500 entry-level jobs are waiting to be filled at a pair of packaging facilities in Wayne County.

The Work Force Network in Canton needs to fill hundreds of positions at two packaging plants in Livonia and Romulus. Administrator Jamie Ackerman said the positions are for general labor, packaging DVD movies and video games.

"They just have to have valid identification. They have to come in and pass a background check and a drug test and then we send them to a two-hour orientation, and as long as they pass everything they'll go to work the very next day," she said.

Ackerman said they'll be taking applications over the next several weeks for the positions, until they're all filled.

"They just have to come in and fill out an application and hopefully we can give them the orientation that day or if not, we might reschedule them for the next day to come out," she said.

Pay begins at minimum wage, but Ackerman said there are opportunities for advancement on the line.

"They just have to be a hard worker and if they can prove themselves, they can move higher. Let's say they can move up to a tier-one, they start at tier-three," she said.

Work Force Network is on Sheldon Road, just south of Michigan Avenue. The job fair is daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will continue until all the positions are filled.
