Bloomfield Township Family Tied Up, Robbed By Masked Men

BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - In an upscale neighborhood where streets are dotted with giant homes that have pools and tennis courts in the backyards, a family of six experienced one of the most terrifying nights of their lives.

Bloomfield Township police say the situation unfolded around 11 p.m. Wednesday when they were called to a home in the 3000 block of Manchester Court, near Wabeek Lake Drive and Long Lake Road, for a possible home invasion in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the front door standing open. Officers entered the home and determined that the suspects were no longer there. They then came upon the visibly shaken family, who said they were tied up prior to the police arriving.

Police say the family further stated that two masked men entered their home though an unlocked door -- one was armed with a gun and the other with a pair of scissors. According to police, the suspects took the family members into bedroom and tied them up one by one prior to ransacking the house.

After they were done rummaging around, the suspects left with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry. Police say the victims were not physically harmed and did not require medical attention.

Police say both suspects were dressed in all black, including face masks, hats, black hoodies and black pants. Suspect #1 is described as approximately 6-feet tall with a skinny build and carrying a silver handgun. Suspect #2 is described as shorter than the first suspect.

Investigators say it's possible a suspect vehicle was parked nearby, but they do not have a description of that vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Bloomfield Township police at 248-433-7755.
