2 Cornerbacks Among 5 Lions' Players Released

ALLEN PARK (AP) - The Detroit Lions have announced the release of five players.

Let go Friday were defensive tackle John Drew, guard Derek Hardman, cornerbacks Domonique Johnson and Ross Weaver, and receiver Chaz Schilens.

Drew and Weaver were waived injured.

The team has to trim its roster to 75 players by Tuesday.

Detroit's final preseason game is Thursday at Buffalo. The regular season starts Sept. 8 when the Lions host Minnesota.
